Source Leads ("we", "us") is a free service that connects people in British Columbia with independent, licensed dealerships and lenders. We are not a dealer or lender ourselves, and participating dealers pay us for referrals. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Contact details you give us: name, phone number, email, and postal code.
- What you're looking for: vehicle type, budget, trade-in or vehicle-to-sell details, preferred test drive time.
- Financing information you choose to share: self-described credit range, income range, employment type, down payment. We do not ask for your SIN or banking information on this website, and we do not pull your credit report from this website.
- Technical information: IP address, the page and ad that brought you here, and browser details, used for security and to measure which advertising works.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your request: answer questions, give you a trade-in or purchase offer, find a vehicle, book a test drive, or help you apply for financing.
- To match you with a dealership or lender that can help, if you've agreed to that (see below).
- To keep records required by law, prevent fraud and spam, and improve our website and advertising.
Who we share it with
If you check the consent box on our form, we may share your contact details and request with partner dealerships and lenders in Canada so they can contact you about vehicles and financing. We only share what they need to help with your request. If you don't check the box, we keep your information to ourselves and use it only to respond to you.
We also use service providers to run this website (hosting, email and text messaging, and advertising tools such as Meta and Google). They may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, and are only allowed to use it to provide services to us.
We never sell your information to anyone for purposes unrelated to buying, selling, or financing a vehicle.
Calls, texts, and emails
Because you contacted us, we may reply about your request. We will only send ongoing marketing messages, or have partners contact you, if you gave express consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to a text, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or contacting us using the details below. We will process your request within 10 business days.
Cookies and advertising
We use cookies and similar tools (such as the Meta Pixel and Google Tag Manager) to understand which ads bring visitors to our site and to show relevant ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and adjust ad preferences in your Meta and Google account settings.
How long we keep it
We keep lead information for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless the law requires us to keep it longer (for example, records of a vehicle sale). After that it is deleted or anonymized.
How we protect it
Your information is sent over an encrypted connection, stored on secured servers, and only available to staff and partners who need it to help you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw consent at any time. If you have concerns, contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC.
